Position Overview:
The Business Data Analyst will work directly with the VP of Data and Analytics to support internal and external clients and consumers of Segmint’s transaction driven insights. This role will be immersed in transactional data.
Duties include both ad-hoc querying as well as deployment and monitoring of automated reports and data visualizations using a variety of graphical and programming tools over multiple data sources in a SOC2-compliant, distributed cloud computing environment, at scale. Applicants should have strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills and a motivated, inquisitive mindset. Applicants should be able to get intimately familiar with presenting data and communicating insights derived from data. Applicants should excel at communicating with both technical and business stakeholders.
A successful person in this role will influence how the organization thinks about data and be a key part of the team driving the direction of our transaction cleansing product.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Support VP of Data and Analytics to manage client success for MPC and market insights
- Monitoring MPC Results
- Interrogating data to identify matching errors by looking at things like anomalous transaction amounts, mismatched MCC codes, or other methods.
- Prepare merchant payment cleansing POC presentation decks including metrics and visualizations
- Uncover new insights from data and explain how these insights connect to customer business opportunities.
- Monitor industry trends and topics of interest and identify areas of data where Segmint insights can drive thought leadership.
- Develop and monitor metrics that may indicate that there is a string change causing a matching issue for particular merchants.
- Support data insights requests from internal teams (Product/Marketing/CS)
- Investigation and development of meaningful benchmarks across institutions
- Investigating unused data fields and innovating on new KLIs that should be developed
- Present results of data interrogation to external and internal customers
Qualifications:
- 4+ years data/business analyst role in banking, financial services industry, or related
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, SQL (PostgreSQL or other), and BI Tools (Quicksight, Tableau, Spotfire, etc.
- Experience with relational data models and working with large data sets (1 TB+)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in statistics/finance/other quantitative study, or equivalent work experience
Desired Skills:
- Data Quality, Data Integration, Data Governance, ETL
- Web visualization/interface software development, particularly with D3.js
