Data Analyst

Western Dental Services, Inc., California’s largest dental services provider and one of the nation’s largest dental HMO’s, is looking for a bright, motivated, seasoned data analyst. This position will be based at our Corporate Headquarters in Orange, CA. As a Data Analyst you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex data sets to uncover insights and drive data-informed decision-making. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, data scientists, and IT professionals, to ensure accurate data analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, extensive experience in data analysis, and a proven ability to derive actionable recommendations from data.

Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Interpretation:

• Collect, cleanse, and transform large and complex data sets to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Conduct advanced statistical analysis, data mining, and modeling to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
• Interpret data and communicate findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, including data visualizations, reports, and presentations.
  
  

Data-Driven Insights:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide data-driven insights and recommendations.
• Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop metrics to track and measure business performance.
• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and revenue enhancement based on data analysis.
  
  

Data Quality and Integrity:

• Ensure data integrity and accuracy through data validation, quality checks, and adherence to data governance policies.
• Work closely with IT teams to optimize data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
• Perform data profiling and data cleansing activities to improve data quality.
  
  

Tools and Technology:

• Utilize a variety of tools and technologies for data analysis, such as SQL, Python, R, Excel, Tableau, or other data visualization and analytics platforms.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in data analysis techniques and tools and identify opportunities to leverage new technologies.
  
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, data scientists, and IT professionals, to align data analysis initiatives with organizational goals.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data analysts, sharing best practices and fostering a data-driven culture.
  
  

Data Standards and Policies:

• Enforce data standards, naming conventions, and data management best practices.
• Maintain data policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  
  

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Analyst, with a track record of delivering impactful data-driven insights and recommendations.
• Strong proficiency in data analysis techniques, statistical methods, and data visualization tools.
• Expertise in SQL for data extraction and manipulation, and programming languages such as Python or R for advanced analysis.
• Experience with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms, to create interactive dashboards and reports.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and derive actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and multiple concurrent projects.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in IT, Software Engineering or Statistical Data Analysis
• Preference will be given to candidates with healthcare industry experience.
