The Data Scientist is responsible to create, maintain, improve, cultivate, clean, and manipulate data models and pipelines. The role will require knowledge of the full data science workflow with an emphasis on the data provisional steps in the data science workflow to transform raw datasets to derived datasets that emphasize feature loading, engineering, and selection. They will be expected to use sound scientific methodology, practice, and judgement when working through an analytic problem from accessing and curating disparate datasets, feature engineering, modeling approach, and messaging.
The Data Scientist will also be responsible for designing and implementing data analysis strategies for large claims and clinical data sets using machine learning models like predictive modeling, data mining, econometric, and statistical methods. The Data Scientist will have the opportunity to collaborate with talented and dedicated colleagues to make a difference in patient healthcare in the Capital District.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
- Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics or a related quantitative field preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in statistics/data science required, healthcare industry experience preferred.
- Experience with Database technologies like; Oracle, SQL Server required.
- Experience with one of the following required; Scala, R or Python.
- Experience with dashboarding tools such as Tableau, Qlik, Spotfire, Shiny or similar reporting/data visualization tool is preferred.
- Experience with Amazon Cloud Compute Services like EMR, S3 preferred.
- Experience with Spark or Spark SQL preferred.
- Experience with common machine learning and statistical methods such as logistic regression, inference tests, random forests, support vectors, or similar preferred.
- Experience with SAS preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of health care claims data preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of working text data and other unstructured data preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of linux system including bash programming preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of key aspects of data science workflow with a particular emphasis on the cultivation and transformational phases with emphasis on feature loading, engineering, and selection for subsequent analytic workflows.
- Demonstrated experience synthesizing and analyzing data sets of different sizes and complexities that are both structured and unstructured as well as augmenting data from internal sources with appropriate external data.
- Demonstrated ability to pro-actively identify problems, as well as recommend and/or implement effective solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and develop relationships both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to a changing and fast-paced environment.
Annual salary range: $90,000 - $115,000
CDPHP salary ranges are designed to be competitive with room for professional and financial growth. Individual compensation is based on several factors unique to each candidate, such as work experience, qualifications, and skills. In addition to cash compensation, CDPHP employees may be eligible for an incentive payment, a discretionary cash reward based on employee and company performance. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.
