About this position

We are looking for a Data Engineer who will work with us on creating the best possible user experience for our customers as well as our internal teams. As an early joiner you will be able to work with growing engineer teams. Together with them you will be able to shape how our digital products are delivered to our scaling international customer-base. Building on your expertise you will make sure that our systems are stable and represent state of the art technology to support the growing needs of our customers and team.


Your responsibilities

  • Collect and transform unstructured data from various sources into a structured output, design and build new ETL/ELT and manage existing data pipeline/ETL (batch and real-time data)
  • Build, maintain and monitor robust data pipelines, design and create models within the data warehouse, providing a stable and reliable data infrastructure
  • Drive the communication with stakeholders across the company in order to understand and support their data requirements
  • Integrate and work with legacy systems whilst also building the future of the data platform
  • Mentor and grow technical skills of engineers across multiple teams by giving high quality feedback in design and code reviews and providing training for new methods, tools, and patterns
  • Be an enabler! You're in charge of making the work for other team-members easier and enable them to reach their goals

Requirements

What you need to be successful

  • Experience building and operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
  • Experience in SQL and one or more other programming languages – preferably Python, Java
  • Experience with distributed data warehouses like Redshift, Hive, Cassandra or database management systems like Postgres, MongoDB, MySQL
  • Experience leading large-scale data warehousing and analytics projects, including using technologies such as – Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, BigQuery.
  • Comfortable working with transformation tools and workflow management systems, e.g. Airflow, Luigi
  • Experienced in designing and building data solutions within the Google Cloud Platform (preferred), AWS or Azure
  • A good understanding of REST and/or GraphQL
  • Solid understanding of the unix flavor of your choice
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
