What's the role -

The Digital + Business Transformation Team is looking for a Data Scientist who is responsible for delivering data science and analytics opportunities for the Scotford asset. The Data Scientist will tackle big data from multiple sources; bringing structure to large quantities of data and applying analytics and machine learning practices to extract information and in turn provide accurate insights and predictions that can be used to power critical business decisions at Scotford

Accountabilities

• Translate business needs to technical specifications by transforming and selecting features for modelling data
• Use exploratory data analysis techniques to identify meaningful relationships, patterns, or trends from complex data sets
• Build machine learning/statistical models for high impact business problems
• Communicate data analysis and findings through effective data visualizations
• End to End Deployment machine learning models to production environments (Azure ML, C3).
• Mentor site staff in data science
• Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
• Responsible for design methodology and project technical documentation

Skills & Requirements:

What we need from you -

• A legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related quantitative discipline
• 4+ years relevant development experience
• Experience with programming languages, preferably Python
• Experience in deployment of machine learning models in cloud platforms like Azure or C3
• Knowledge of applied statistical analysis, machine learning modeling techniques, and data processing methods, model validation techniques, etc
• Experience with time series forecasting is an asset
• Ability to work with unstructured data from various sources
