Job Description & Summary

We are seeking to hire high performing analysts with a focus or mix of data engineering and analysis skills to work on complex transformation projects for some of the highest profile Asian insurance clients.

We are looking for candidates that ideally have 2-4 years’ experience in the following domains.

• Functional Knowledge
  Experience of working in one of the following environments a) an actuarial team b) a finance team of an a) an insurer

• Understanding of the core principles of accounting

• Basic understanding of insurance and its value chain
  
  

Data Engineering

• Knowledge of cloud-based and on-premise ETL design patterns.

• Designing, building and deploying high quality data pipelines, ETL processes using a mix of on-premise or cloud native tools (e.g. SSIS, ADF, Alteryx, Python)

• Designing relational database models

• Data quality analysis, error handling, and testing.

• Using Python to perform IO operations (e.g. reading and writing various file types and data structures from / to disk or from database)

• Using Python libraries (e.g. Pandas, Numpy) to prepare, transform and analyse structured data, or to feed into a machine learning model.
  
  

Data Analysis

• Using SQL or Python to perform analytics on large data sets through the use of analytic functions, set operators, CTEs and joins.

• Experience with the design and creation of database objects, including but not limited to tables, relationships, stored procedures and views.

• Using visualisation tools (e.g. PyPlot, Tableau, PowerBI) to build impactful dashboards and reports using visualisation best practices.

• Understanding of how to reconcile disparate data sources, and identify differences in sources of financial data
  
  

Nice-to-haves

• Understanding of basic principles of economic valuation (e.g. discounted cashflow valuation, dividend discount model, etc)

• Working knowledge of deploying on, and working with on-premise and cloud technologies in a DevOps environment.

• Working knowledge of networking and firewalls.

• Understanding of OOP, procedural and functional programming concepts.

• Advanced understanding of data types, structures and algorithm design.

• Experience building front-ends using Python, C#, React, d3, Angular

• Actuarial science background

• Experience with github

• Fluent in English

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• A collaborative approach to sharing ideas and finding solutions, ability to work in multi-functional team

• Ability to deliver under pressure and to adhere to tight deadlines

• Basic understanding of the role of an actuary
