Job Summary


You will update and edit the Geographic Information System (GIS) products using the Linear Reference System (LRS) by methods of spatial research and analysis. The LRS is based off ESRI’s Roads and Highways and associated Event Editor (EE) products. You will assist with the coordination of the capture, storage, maintenance, manipulation, and auditing of location data and assist with location integration services to ensure data accuracy, precision, and compliance. Research and analyze data to ensure integrity and standardization. You will will primarily be entering data into the GIS Linear Referencing System through our annual status update process.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in geography, environmental studies, GIS,math, statistics, data analytics, or a related field, OR one-year professional work experience in GIS and computer-generated cartography, OR two years technical/paraprofessional work experience in GIS and computer-generated cartography that demonstrates the following:

  • Working knowledge of spatial concepts, spatial data storage, integration, manipulation, viewing and analysis
  • Working knowledge of computers, computer generated products and related equipment to deliver GIS products and services
  • Knowledge of cartographic principles and techniques, including map projections and coordinate system
  • Knowledge and skill in creating, processing, analyzing, and managing GIS data and corresponding metadata
  • Skill in researching and interpreting USGS products, aerial photography, and other GIS information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skill in capturing and converting GIS data
  • Working knowledge of Transportation Data and GIS linear reference application components and system
  • Ability to create route data, display route data events and calibrate routes with point location dataSkill in researching and interpreting road construction plans, route system resolutions and legal land descriptions
  • Experience editing spatial features and their attributes
  • Experience with Roads and Highways Extension and Event Editor or similar tools
