Job Summary:

The Junior/Mid-Level Data Scientist will work closely with NAVWAR HQ, PEO, and other activity employees to progress analytics projects through the complete data science lifecycle, delivering a robust data science capability to NAVWAR across the spectrum of data science capabilities – Natural Language Processing (NLP), Statistical Analysis, Machine Learning, and Forecasting.

Job Description:

  • Develop and implement a set of techniques or analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software
  • Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Provide Analysis Project Definition documentation.
  • Visualize, interpret, and report data findings.
  • Create dynamic data reports.
  • Job functions may be completed under the oversight of senior-level data scientists or independently.

Job Qualifications:

  • Three (3) Years of Relevant Experience
  • Experience with software integration or testing, including analyzing and implementing test plans and scripts.
  • Experience with frequent scripting language use, such as Python and R and using packages commonly used in data science applications or advanced analytics.
  • Experience with data science, data mining, statistics, or graph algorithms to support analytics objectives.
  • Experience applying Structured Query Language (SQL), Non Structured Query Language (NoSQL), Application Program Interface (API) Building, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) pipelines, Web Application Servers, or Search Index.
  • Experience using programming languages and products such as Python, Jupyter Notebook, Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-Learn, Matplotlib, Keras and other software packages related to advanced analytics.
  • Experience applying complex mathematical and statistical concepts.
  • Experience applying statistical and operations research methods and tools.
  • Experience employing spreadsheets for data manipulation and visualization.
  • Ability to explore and examine data from multiple disparate sources with the goal of drawing conclusions to address business problems.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and data mining skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to learn and apply technical concepts to assigned duties.
  • Ability to explore and examine data from multiple disparate sources with the goal of drawing conclusions to address business problems.
