The Data Science and Analytics team at Acuity Brands, Inc. is engaged in exploiting the power of data and analytics in optimizing Acuity’s business operations spanning pricing to supply chain. The team is also responsible for leveraging the power of data and machine learning to unlock digital twins of Acuity’s lighting and control devices to enable intelligent IOT as foundational pillars for building management solutions providing services that optimize energy and enhance end customer experience while reducing costs.

The Data science and analytics engineer is a critical role that will be responsible for developing & implementing AI, ML, and deep learning pipelines and their exploitation across our data & analytics platform. Responsibilities

• Build POCs from concept to data engineering to a model to its operationalization in a minimum viable product (MVP) independently in an agile mode
• Leveraging telemetry and multiple sources of data, design, test, and deploy AI/ML solutions, collaborate with other data scientists & engineers to build deep learning capabilities w/in the platform, with an end goal of prediction, early alerting, and prescriptive recommendations
• Define appropriate business metrics to measure the impact of AI/ML solutions within the platform
• You will design and conduct rigorous A/B/N experiments and evaluate results
• Write scalable, distributed and highly efficient code, with demonstrated evidence of competency in languages such as R, Python, PySpark, Scala, Java and other coding languages.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years of experience in building end-to-end analytics solutions
• 2+ years of experience in building and operationalizing analytics pipelines and services adopting container ecosystem of Docker, Kubernetes.
• 2+ years of demonstrated AI/ML pipeline development with relevant code experience
• 2+ years’ experience using one or more of the following: TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, SparkML, etc.
• 2+ years’ experience using one or more of the following frameworks: Spark, Spark (structured) Streaming, Akka, Kafka, etc.
• Experience in end to end A|B Testing
• Experience working in a data intensive environment and translating business needs into data requirements
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Initiative and passion for finding solutions to hard problems at scale and operationalizing them
• Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundaries.
