As we scale our Data Science, Machine Learning and Bioinformatics capabilities, we now have an exciting opportunity in our team in Cambridge (UK), Amsterdam and the US. We produce ML solutions enabling acceleration and innovation in life sciences. And you will directly contribute to making ML core to how the business operates.

Are you an enthusiastic Data Scientist who has experience working in an MLOps environment and who would love collaborating with our DevOps, Platform and UX/UI teams, with our Analysts and Data Engineers and with Scientists around the world? We need you. You will help us create solutions that scale and integrate with our products and workflows, both internally and externally.

In this role you will:

• Work in the Machine Learning and Bioinformatics team at the forefront of data-driven optimisation and innovation in life sciences
• Invent and develop ML solutions that impact life-changing products and services
• Contribute to the MLOps ecosystem and become a champion of best coding and MLOps practice
• Work on challenging projects and end-to-end ML processes
• Collaborate internationally with like-minded and skilled colleagues to identify, plan, develop and deliver production-quality, cloud-based ML solutions
• Have the opportunity to grow and develop in a fast moving company

Qualifications

We would love to hear from people with a:

• Solid understanding of machine learning, data science or bioinformatics techniques and methodologies
• Ability to rapidly prototype, write and maintain Python code to high quality and performance standards
• Experience with ML-related Python libraries (e.g. pandas, sklearn, TensorFlow/PyTorch, etc.)
• Understanding of software development, deployment and MLOps
• Interest and endurance in tackling diverse and complex data problems
• University degree (or exceptional, proven talent) in Data Science, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or a related quantitative subject.

And we are particularly keen if you also have:

• Experience with recommender systems and real-time ML
• Background in life sciences
• Python expertise, with attention to detail and highest coding standards
• Familiarity with graph technologies such as Neo4J
• Hands-on experience with Spark, Linux, GitLab, GitOps, Docker, Airflow
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• An innovative and growth mindset, you are self-motivated
• An ability to work in a dynamic multidisciplinary environment, choosing and learning to use new tools as required
• Experience with model lifecycle management
• Participated in a machine learning competition, e.g. Kaggle
• A PhD in an area as described above
