Senior Data Engineer,Triangle Retail Media (TRM), will be responsible for building a best-in-class ad tech and measurement solution that will allow internal and external users to create, manage and report on TRM advertising campaigns. TRM is Canadian Tire Corporation’s (CTC) rapidly scaling Retail Media Network Business across banners. Investing behind this business and scaling it over the next five years is a top strategic priority for CTC. As a member of the TRM team, you will work alongside groups of industry experts in a highly agile, entrepreneurial, and exciting environment. You will make an impact by:
- Helping TRM to be a hypotheses-driven product development organization with data in the center of everything, and working with internal TRM and Canadian Tire stakeholders to develop solutions that support various data users and consumers
- Using appropriate tools to efficiently collect, clean, and prepare large volumes of data for analysis and modelingto uncover patterns or issues
- Writing robust and efficient queries to transform raw data sources into easily accessible datasets by coding across several languages such as Python, and SQL
- Analyzing and profiling data to support data discovery activities across a wide range of sources (internal, external, online, offline), data structures (structured, JSON, XML, etc.) and TRM business operations
- Helping in automating reporting pipelines, and building real-time dashboards
- Designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and optimizing both batch and streaming data pipelines to meet business use case requirements for reporting, BI, analytics, ML/AI models and other applications
- Automating data pipelines to continuously supply data analysts and data scientists with reliable, efficient foundations for data product development
- Building testing and data validations strategies to ensure quality control and data integrity
- Leveraging expertise in analytical tools and statistical models to create a system for data science translation into business terms, and deriving a story and strategy from data as needed
- Partnering cross functionally with other analysts, data scientists, and data engineers to refine data requirements, document business rules, build and maintain data pipelines, processes, and reporting solutions/visualizations to help enhance data narratives
- Adapting to ongoing product and technology developments and identifying opportunities for growth and development, as it relates to the needs of the retail media network industry
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in computer science / math/ analytics or a related quantitative discipline
- 5+ years industry experience in data engineering, software development or related role. Media house, publisher, ad network, or retail media network experience is an asset
- Proficiency and advanced level programming in PySpark and SQL
- 3+ years working with big data platforms (Hadoop, Hive, Azure/ADLS, GCP/BigQuery, Snowflake, NoSQL, etc.); Snowflake experience highly desirable
- Working knowledge of traditional RDBMS (e.g., Netezza, Oracle)
- Significant experience in data analysis, modeling, and ETL/ELT development in a big data environment
- Working experience with CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket/Git, Jenkins, Artifactory), ETL tools (e.g., Diyotta, DataStage, etc.) and data streaming (Kafka, NiFi, Event Hubs, etc.)
- Demonstrated strategic and analytical reporting approach, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and manage multiple priorities
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; equally comfortable and effective communicating with users, other technical teams, and business leaders
- Experience working in an agile environment
