This new position is an exciting opportunity within our newly developed Intelligence capability of the National Fire Ant Eradication Program (NFAEP). As our Senior Data Analyst, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of data driven solutions to support program functions including, but not limited to, intelligence, operations, compliance, engagement, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Work within a multidisciplinary team, to contribute to the development of complex analysis and reports to meet program needs, including extracting data from multiple sources, importing and merging data into databases, creating dashboards and report templates, producing reports, analysing results, and developing and delivering key findings to support program functions.
- Write Structured Query Language (SQL) scripts, queries and stored procedures to extract textual and spatial data, perform ad hoc and structured data analysis and data quality assurance.
- Develop and maintain databases, reports and dashboards across the NFAEP.
- Implement best practices in data management to ensure the integrity of the data, the quality of data processes and delivery of analysable or analysed data to a variety of internal and external clients.
- Use data visualisation, analysis and spatial analysis tools in analysing and reporting of large and/or complex data sets.
- Continuously improve data analysis processes, methodologies and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Adhere to data governance policies and regulatory requirements, ensuring data privacy, security and compliance within the organisation.
While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, the key capabilities for this role include:
- Highly developed data analysis skills using Structured Query Language (SQL) with a specific focus on spatial data manipulation, and software such as PowerBI, SQL Server Reporting Services, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Demonstrated experience with desktop and enterprise systems (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise) is highly desirable.
- High level of knowledge and extensive experience working with relational database technologies.
- Proven high level knowledge and expertise in data extraction and manipulation, and the professional presentation and dissemination of data from complex systems. Initiative and resourcefulness to timely prepare dashboards and reports through
engagement with stakeholders (both orally and written) and to clarify data requirements and program needs.
